Crowds lined both sides of the Duluth Canal as the brand-new BBC Kolding arrived with machinery, exchanged a booming bridge salute, and passed beneath the Aerial Lift Bridge.
The Wilfred Sykes’ rare Duluth arrival at sunrise carried more than beauty. The historic steamship brought back the memory of a 1953 Lake Superior rescue, reminding ship watchers why some Great Lakes legends still feel alive when they come through the canal.
